During the lockdown periods of the pandemic last year, local jazz artists Mark Johnson and Josefina Mendez worked together on contemporary arrangements for traditional Christmas and holiday songs. The result will take center stage for 2021 Holiday Jazz concert on December 17th at the Arts Campus at Willits with the Josephina Mendez Quartet. $ 20 to $ 27;

The region’s favorite stand-up comedian Kathleen madigan is back for a headlining spot at the Wheeler Opera House on Saturday December 18th. On the road with his “Do you have a ranch?” tour, Madigan and his frank comedy ensemble mark the first major stand-up event at the Wheeler since before the pandemic began. $ 35 to $ 65;

Aspen Theater produced a five-day and six-day show Cabaret series at the Jerome Hotel from December 18 to 23. The evening dinner show event includes an hour-long performance featuring Broadway performers making shows, pop and holiday favorites. $ 245 to $ 340;

The Saint-Régis Snow Polo World Championships return to Rio Grande Park Dc in Aspen. 18-19. The only snow polo event in North America, it’s a must-see for the competitive snow action, open to the public, and for the glitter show on stage observation nights hosted by the grand polo. The Aspen Historical Society welcomes children, parents and stuffed animals to Santa’s Workshop at the Jerome Hotel from December 21 to 23 for its Teddy bear story time series. Local storytellers will share holiday tales from around the world. Free, registration required.
