Hamburg Church schedules its annual Christmas candlelight service on Sunday evening


• The First United Church of Christ Reformed Church, 76 S. Third St., Hamburg, will hold its annual Christmas candlelight service on Sunday at 6.30 p.m. The service has been a tradition in Hamburg for 65 years and features the Christmas story and Christmas carols. The Jolie Trio – Robin Lilarose on flute, Kirstin Myers on oboe and Crystal Jordan on cello – will perform before the service, accompanied by Sue Wessner.

• Christ St. Peter’s United Church in Molltown, 219 Maidencreek Road, Richmond Township, will celebrate Sunday at 10:15 am with Mike and Linda Hertzog offering Christmas music. On Friday there will be a candlelight worship service with music starting at 6:45 p.m., followed by the service at 7 a.m.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto, will worship on the Fourth Sunday of Advent at 9am. & Conversation too. Masks are recommended.

• The Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent with in-person worship at 8:30 am and 10:30 am. Masks are compulsory. The Sunday School Christmas show ‘Beneath a Shining Star’ will be presented at the 10:30 am service with children’s voices, an instrumental ensemble and a choir of bells. The 10:30 am service will be streamed live on Reformation’s Facebook page and can be viewed later on www.Reformationlutheran.org. under the worship videos. Christmas Eve services with carols, candles and fellowship will be offered at 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday. Masks are compulsory. The 8 p.m. festival service will include the Reformation choir, bell choir, brass quartet and timpani and will be streamed live on the Reformation Facebook page. • St. John’s Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, will be holding a Christmas Eve service Thursday at 7:30 pm that will feature the contemporary worship orchestra and candlelight fellowship. The traditional Christmas Eve service, also with communion by candlelight, will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

• Zion United Church of Christ will worship with the congregation of St. Paul at 301 W. Penn Ave .. Robesonia, Fourth Sunday of Advent at 10:15 am via YouTube, Facebook, phone and in person. A children’s program will be presented when the fourth Advent wreath candle is lit. The choir will sing. Find details at 1zion.org or sprucc.org.

• Trinity United Church of Christ, 2449 Cumberland Ave., Mount Penn, will celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent in person at 10:15 am. The religious school for adults will take place at 9:00 a.m. Masks are recommended. The service will also be recorded and posted on the church’s Facebook page after the service.

• St. Peter’s De Becker Lutheran Church, 265 Maidencreek Road, Richmond Township, will hold its annual candlelight fellowship service on Friday at 7 pm. Masks are at your discretion.

• Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Township of Exeter, will be holding an in-person and Zoom service on Sunday at 10:30 am It will also be available on YouTube. Sandra Paton will be the guest pianist. For more information, visit www.schwarzwalducci-pa.org.

• The Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Township of Exeter, will be hosting an in-person service at 10:30 am Unvaccinated people should wear masks. The registered service will be available Monday on Facebook.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will celebrate in person Sunday at 9:30 am. 10:30 a.m., followed by a take-out meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The live worship is available on YouTube. Children’s Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Register at stjohnsboyertown.org. Masks are mandatory for all indoor events and cults.

• St. Michael’s Church, 529 St. Michaels Road, Township of Tilden, will hold a Christmas Eve candle light service on Fridays at 4 pm and 7 pm. The 4 p.m. worship service is specially designed for children. Special music for the subsequent service begins at 6.30am. The service on December 26 will take place at 10:15 am with music and hymns led by Elaine Balthaser. A loud offering will be taken to adopt a red kettle for the Salvation Army.

• The United Church of Christ St. Paul, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, will have worship service in the sanctuary and on YouTube and Facebook on Sunday at 9:30 am, when the choir performs the Christmas cantata, narrated by Joshua Bogacki and Alexis Ames. The vocal soloist is Jay A. Smith; the prelude is “Adult Christmas List”: the postlude is “And the glory of the Lord”. and 10:30 am Links are available at www.stpaulsfleetwood.org.

• Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court Street, Reading, will be holding three Sunday morning church services, all including the Holy Eucharist. At 8 am, there will be a said service (no music); at 9, a service for families with young children; and at 10:15 am, a service with music. Anyone attending these services is requested to wear a mask. Parking is available at the Abraham Lincoln Parking Lot and M&T Bank Parking Lot, both located off Washington Street. Parking next to the church on Court Street is available for people with disabilities or needing assistance. On Thursday morning at 11 a.m., a morning prayer group based on the Book of Common Prayer will meet in the Red Bridge Recreation Area in Canton Bern, weather permitting.

• Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main St., Oley, will worship in person and by Zoom Sunday at 10:15 am The service will feature the Friedens Youth Group, who will present their annual Christmas show, “Sounds of the Season.” The Mission Team is collecting items for the Oley Valley pantry. • Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Center Ave., Reading, will feature harpist Janet Whitman as guest musician Sunday at 10:30 am There will also be a fellowship service at 8 am and an adult forum at 9 am.

• Maidencreek Church, 261 Main Street, Maidencreek Township, will be holding a hybrid church service celebrating the Fourth Sunday of Advent at 9:00 am. The music includes piano solos by SaraAnn Harbonic, Tallulah Johnson, and Davin Haas; solo violin by Sophia Ayrton; and vocal solo by Becky Wright; as well as a congregational hymn. The in-person worship is streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. There will be in-person candle light services on Fridays at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. with Communion. • Kissinger’s Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, will have a traditional Christmas Eve service at 5 pm on Friday, featuring special vocal and instrumental music. A sung Christmas carol precedes the service at 4:45 a.m.

• Bern Reformed UCC, 3196 Bernville Road, Bern Township, offers live worship services on Sundays at 9:30 am, or participate from your vehicle via an FM 87.9 transmission.
