Joel Shapira Quartet” is made up of four Twin Cities jazz veterans, all in top form. Joel Shapira guitar, Pete Whitman saxophone, Tom Lewis bass, Dave Schmalenberger drums. The band released “Open Lines” in 2011 and hope to make a follow-up recording soon. Tunes by Monk, Ornette, Shapira originals and more. Expect deep interaction and instrumental expressiveness.

Peter Goggin is one of the new, dynamic and individual jazz artists to emerge on the Twin Cities music scene. After spending time at the University of Michigan, he returned to the Twin Cities to work as a saxophonist, educator, and composer. He has recorded with several bands, including on Hoaxer’s “Crash Test” album (2017). He has performed numerous times at the Twin Cities and Detroit Jazz Festivals, and was a representative at the 2019 IASJ International Jazz Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia. Peter studied with Andrew Bishop, Robert Hurst, Miles Okazaki and Benny Green, all of whom left an indelible impact on his approach to studying and creating music.
