Source Music denies allegations that LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Ga-ram was a school bully

Source Music has publicly denied allegations that Kim Ga-ram, a member of upcoming girl group LE SSERAFIM, was a school bully.

Less than a day after the label introduced Kim as a member of the group, a number of netizens claimed that the 16-year-old singer had been involved in bullying incidents during her school days. A netizen, who claimed to be Kim’s middle school classmate, alleged that Kim regularly harassed younger students, according to messages archived by Koreaboo.

In another series of forum posts by KBIZoomanother netizen posted screenshots of a conversation allegedly initiated by Kim, where she allegedly insulted another person by asking them to pick up the phone.

HYBE, owner of Source Music, the agency in charge of LE SSERAFIM, has since denied all allegations and filed a lawsuit in a statement issued today (April 6). The label claims the allegations were “skillfully edited” in order to “maliciously slander” Kim, as translated by Soompi.

“Contrary to claims, it has been confirmed through a third party statement that Kim Ga-ram was bullied at school, including malicious gossip and cyberbullying, when she was in middle school, said added HYBE. The mentioned “third-party statement”, however, has not been made public.

“Source Music has filed a lawsuit against the spread of one-sided and distorted allegations and misinformation related to this case,” HYBE added. “Therefore, we sincerely request that you refrain from any speculative reporting based on suspicions that are currently being maliciously raised online.”

“Furthermore, the allegations that have been raised contain character defamation against a person who was still a minor before their celebrity debut, and we would like to make it clear that we will pursue legal action without any settlement or leniency.”

HYBE and Source Music previously confirmed that another former IZ*ONE member, Kim Chae-won, will also be part of LE SSERAFIM’s lineup, although her official teasers have yet to arrive. Additionally, several South Korean news outlets mentioned former Pledis Entertainment trainee Heo Yun-jin, who previously appeared on Produce 48, as an alleged member of the group.
