On Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m., the WCHS Jazz Ensemble will kick off the free summer concert series at the amphitheater at the north end of Winchester’s Goodrich Park. In recent years, this concert series has become a favorite activity for many locals, as they can spend an evening in the park relaxing and listening to wonderful live music.
Al and Missy Williams have helped organize these concerts for the past few years and continue to be involved. “It takes a lot of people to make this happen,” Al said. “We want to thank all of the sponsors who continue to donate money for these events,” he added.
On Friday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m., a crowd favorite from last year, “The Flying Toasters,” sponsored by Winchester Golf Club, Eric Mikels and the Mark and Carey Todd family, will return to entertain the crowd at Goodrich Park.
Steve and Marla Threewits along with Tom and Cathy Miller will sponsor “Duke Tumatoe and the Power Trio” on Friday, June 24 at 7:00 p.m. “Grove Hill with Kenny Live” will play at the amphitheater on July 4 before the annual WCCPC fireworks display. Grove Hill and Kenny are sponsored by the WCCPC
On July 15 at 7:00 p.m., Brenda and Derry Hobson are sponsoring a performance by “The Shifferly Road Band”. Tarter Real Estate and Paul and Jennifer Faddis are sponsoring the July 22 performance of Gene Deer and Gordon Bonham.
Levi Driskell and his band will perform at the park on July 29 at 7:00 p.m. It is sponsored by Broke Scholar and Miel Oro of Los Angeles and Patrick and Rosalinda Williams. On Friday, August 5, Culy Construction will sponsor a performance by “The Doo Band aka Zanna Doo” at 7:00 p.m. at the amphitheater.
Another local favorite, Muncie’s Cook & Belle will return to Goodrich Park on August 19 at 7:00 p.m., sponsored by Cobalt Civil. The September concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. on September 3 with Andy Study and the Wildcards, sponsored by the Winchester Park Department and the Park Board. The City of Winchester, Mayor Bob McCoy and the Winchester Street and Park Department are sponsoring “Shot of Whiskey” on September 4.
Closing out this year’s free concert series on September 17 at 7:00 p.m., the John Beatrice Band of Farmland will be brought to you by Randolph County Tourism.
John Rose of Star 98.3 WZZY radio will be on the show. Local food trucks such as Hoosier Que Daddy Too and Abby’s Krazy Snacks are also often present at concerts.
